Spoilers, ugh!

I love movies.  I really love new movies. Sure I have several favorites that I can watch anytime, and others that I have to watch at least once a year. But I love new movies so much I still go to the theater. Diving deeper though CGI doesn't impress me and there are no actors that I follow. It's the idea of a new story I haven't heard or seen before. My friends can tell you that I have weird or bad tastes in movies, but its just that I can forgive a lot to see something new.

Given that; I hate trailers. If a movie is coming out that I am interested in, I will avoid trailers like the plague.  The most recent example of this is Ready Player One that comes out this Friday.  I have read the book three times and as recently as last month (as a refresher to the story).  I haven't watched the first teaser or looked at any still shots. In this example, I already know the story, but I don't want the surprise of what the movie did with it to be ruined.

The comic above is just a snip it of the many arguments Sean and I have had over the years about the injustice trailers do to movies. I feel terrible for the makers of comedy movies who forever after have to hear "All the best jokes were in the trailer." Then there are horror movies where the ending is given away before you've seen the opening credits. More often than not the teaser that flashes a couple of shots over music or narration is where people decide if they are going the movie.  Doesn't the mystery see more tickets?
