As Scary Terry points out, I now only need three more figures to complete my series 2 set. What I struggle with is, in the age of bigbadtoystore, amazon, and ebay why don’t I already have them. The chase figure is extinct, and as a hunter I feel bored and unfulfilled. At least this is what I blame the rapid expansion of my action figure collection over the last few years. I’ve been taking quantity over quality. And I’m not talking about the quality of the figures, but the experience of procuring them. This Rick and Morty set is really my first endeavor in trying to recreate ‘The Hunt’. Only buying figures I physically found at Target, GameStop, and Barnes and Noble. At least that was the plan, but I failed miserably. Target is still only carrying Series 1. GameStop and B&N have been sold out each visit. In fact both of the above figures were purchases from bbts.com. I’m only holding out on the last three because I don’t really want them for what they are. Power Suit Rick, Power Suit Morty, and Summer with something on her head (I don’t even remember what episode this is from) are poor choices for figures in my opinion. What I want are the rest of the build-a-figure pieces to complete Krombopulos Mike. I love the idea of ‘build-a-figure’ sets. Of course as the world of toys has become feast or famine I typically just order my marvel legend sets by the case and can then build the figure at my leisure. If everything is available at a price that I can reasonably afford why collect them at all? Don’t we collect for the feeling that comes with finishing a set? How does collecting evolve?
